SLP Spotlight: Jessica Hudson
Jessica is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a licensed speech-language pathologist in the state of Arizona and Nevada. Jessica received a B.S. and M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to that, she completed a B.S. in Business Management at Colorado State University.
Jessica has focused her clinical skills on treating children and adults with fluency disorders and has worked with people of all ages who stutter in various settings for several years. While in graduate school, she completed an internship at a clinic in Denver, Colorado for people who stutter. Here she discovered her love and passion for working with those who stutter. Jessica has volunteered as a National Stuttering Association Phoenix chapter co-leader. She has received specialized training in several methods of speech therapy focusing on stuttering, including the Lidcombe Program, a therapy program for young children who stutter, Palin Parent Child-Interaction Therapy (Palin PCI), and Avoidance Reduction Therapy (ARTS®). Jessica holds the Ally of Stuttering Seal® and is a member of ASHA’s Special Interest Group for Fluency and Fluency Disorders. Jessica has received five Awards for Continuing Education (ACE) from ASHA and she continues to learn as much as she can about stuttering and other speech-language disorders.
Jessica’s primary goal at SSTA is to help evolve the practice and foster a community that better understands stuttering. She is working on some BIG things so stay tuned! Jessica maintains a very small personal caseload at this time. She works closely with all the speech-language pathologists at SSTA to ensure they have the training and education necessary to provide the highest quality speech therapy to each client that walks through our doors.
When she is not spending time with her amazing clients, Jessica enjoys working out, baking, taste testing the fancy tortillas her husband creates, rehabbing a house in Southern Arizona, and hanging out with her dog, Olive.
